Sources of Legitimacy
The laws related to surrogacy in Georgia can be traced back to 1997. As time goes by, the number of surrogacy patients increase, and relevant laws and regulations are constantly being formulated and improved. Georgia's administrative agencies have become routine in issuing identity documents for the babies born through surrogacy in Georgia. Therefore, the efficiency of the work is considerably increased, whereas child's raising time in Georgia is noticeably shortened. At present a legal system is present in Georgia that protects the rights and interests of the clients who require surrogacy services.
Georgia Health Care Law passed on December 10, 1997 (Articles 141, 143, and 144) – talks about the allowance of in vitro fertilization.
The Civil Code of Georgia, adopted on December 20, 2011 (Article 30), regulates the birth registration of children through in vitro fertilization.

Rules for registration of civil acts - allows/describes the registration process of a baby born as a result of in vitro fertilization. Enacted on February 1, 2012. ( Articles 16, 19)
Procedures formulated by the Minister of Justice of Georgia and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, adopted on April 11, 2016 - approves the exit of Georgian children born through in vitro fertilization
